You must read at least 30 minutes/night x 5 nights/week

-Must be of interest to you, the reader -You need to complete two between now and the end of March -Must be at least a 1000 lexile level |
ASSIGNMENTSIntro to each new bookWhen you choose each new book, answer the following questions on your blog:
1) Title, author, ISBN (this is the number listed near the barcode on the back of the book) 2) Why did you choose this book? 3) What is the reading level of this book? (Look it up if you don't know it!) 4) Give a brief summary about what this book is about (according to the sleeve or back cover). 5) Have you read other books similar to this one before? Daily Reading Response (5/week)After completing your thirty minutes of reading, you must answer the following questions on your blog. Copy and paste the questions and then answer each one.
1) What did you read about today? Be specific. 2) How do you feel about what you read today? 3) Think about your favorite character. What happened to him/her today? 4) How would you feel if the same thing that happened to him/her, happened to you? 5) What questions do you have about what you read today? 6) What do you predict will happen next in this story? End of book packetAt the end of each book, you must complete a non-fiction packet. The packet consists of the following worksheets:
1) Themes 2) Story Summary 3) Predicting Outcomes* (this should be done throughout the reading) 4) Character Analysis 5) Character Traits 6) Characterization When you are done with these worksheets, staple them together, put the title of the book on the first page and label it "non-fiction book __" and in the blank write the number of the book. |
