Keep in mind each of the following when writing:
IDEAS:
-focus on ONE main idea
-support the main idea with interesting details
-have interesting and original ideas
-know what you're talking about
ORGANIZATION:
-have an attention-grabbing opener
-have smooth transitions
-write it so that the flow and organization is logical
-the ending should sum up the main idea and reiterate the point in new words
VOICE:
-clear thoughts
-address the audience (which means you have to know your audience)
-make it personal, unique and original
WORD CHOICE:
-when you use common words, use them well
-use descriptive words
-avoid repetition
-use strong, precise language
SENTENCE FLUENCY:
-begin your sentences in different ways
-vary the length and structure of your sentences
