1. Was there anything about the article that was confusing to you? If so, what? Be specific
I wasn't confused much the only thing I was confused about is when they were talking about Shanghai i didn't know if they were good or not.
2.. Were you surprised by anything written in the article? Why or why not?
I was a little bit. I was only surprised a little bit because i knew the U.S was ranked a bit low in education. The surprise came when it said we weren't good in science i thought we would have done better in science.\
3. As an American student, why do you think our scores are lagging internationally?
My teacher told us in class that one reason we are lagging is because the government is putting so much effort in defense for our nation and is taking cuts from schools. This means the schools are "cheaper". There is also the fact that teachers aren't doing the best, but students need to be doing there best also and not mess around and take a test 100%.
The government expects the students to give a hundred 100% every single day but that method hasn't worked out
.
4. What reaction do you have to the information in this article?
I think the U.S needs to find a way to get its kids smarter and that it needs to give schools more spending and money. I think that if more kids are smarter than what they are now the United states can have some type of break through
.
5. What can be done to help American students improve their performance in class? (This should be one full paragraph)
They need to find a better system than the 100% system there needs to be something more accurate and easy for the kids. Also the teachers need to do the best alongside with students trying there best also. The government needs to put more money in schools and make cuts somewhere else.
