One nonprofit organization that accomplished a lot of goals and helped a lot was Red Cross. The humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross connects us to people and communities across the nation and around the world. They have disaster relief, support for military families, health and safety training and education, lifesaving blood, and international services. They provide care, compassion, and emergency needs when disaster strikes, they support members of the military, veterans and their families in coping, connecting and obtaining financial assistance, they train individuals, families and organizations with lifesaving skills and emergency and disaster preparedness information, they collect and distribute more than 40 percent of America’s blood supply, and they are a global leader in responding to emergencies, preparing for disasters, preventing disease and promoting humanitarian values. In May last year Red Cross was ranked as #3 as the best nonprofit organizations. Red Cross and its partners provided 1,400 evacuation shelters for survivors across 31 states and the District of Columbia serving nearly 450,000 evacuees, they served more than 68 million hot meals and snack, and direct assistance that allowed more than 1.4 million families to purchase groceries, clothing, diapers and other basic needs. The Red Cross created the Hurricane Recovery Program to address the long-term needs of survivors. Whenever the people need help Red Cross is always there to help. Red Cross has accomplished 20 big things.
