Week 2 Day 5 (Friday)
1) What did you read about today? Be specific.
1) Another teenage runaway story was revealed and this one was about a girl named Sandy. She lived at a shelter because her parents didn't have enough money for their family so they moved to a shelter. The shelter was really strict and Sandy didn't like living there but she accepted it. She still went to school but she was too scared to ever tell anyone that she was homeless. Several times the family had to move from place to place. One time a kid found out about Sandy's secret and he wouldn't stop teasing her. Sandy was very ashamed of how she lived. She then became friends with a girl named Emily. She felt really close to her so she shared her secret with her. Emily felt really bad for Sandy and told her that being homeless didn't change anything for Emily. A couple years later her family got enough money to move to an apartment because of her mother's job at the grocery shop. Sandy was really happy because she now had a normal time and there were no restrictions to that. Sandy became a girl who was selfless. She would always be thankful for what she had rather than whine for something she didn't have.
2) How do you feel about what you read today?
2) I felt bad for Sandy because she was homeless. I was also really proud of Sandy because she was going through so much and she had been so strong and had finally won something at the end.
3) Think about your favorite character. What happened to him/her today?
3) Sandy had been living a life of misery because her parents didn't have enough to support them. Towards the end she had finally won her victory by living in a new apartment.
4) How would you feel if the same thing that happened to him/her, happened to you?
4) I would be really sad and happy at the same time. I would always be trusting in god to help me find a good home and I know eventually good would serve me good.
5) What questions do you have about what you read today?
5) Does Sandy continue writing to Emily?
6) What do you predict will happen next in this story?
6) The new part would be revealed of how living on the streets is not a good thing.
