The article I read was More Children Are Being Medicated to ADHD Than Before http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2013/11/22/246771526/more-children-are-being-medicated-for-adhd-than-before .
1) Why is this important to know? This article is really important to know because the number of children medicated to ADHD has risen from the 1997s and that is not a good thing. ADHD stands for Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which means people with ADHD have problems focusing and are not able to control their behaviors. Children that are in school have frequent problems which may get hard to handle sometimes. This article is important because the children that are being medicated to ADHD should decrease rather than increasing.
2) Who are the important people/places/things?
The important people mentioned in this particular article are American and specifically American children. Important places in this article is America and specifically Maryland, Arkansas, and Nevada.
3) Is anything you learned surprising or new to you?
Something new I learned and was surprising to me was that more boys in High School have ADHD than most girls in High School. I also learned that children that are medicated to ADHD has increased from 7% in 2007 to 8.8% in 2013.
