I was surprised that American students are lagging behind compared to other countries' students. I was surprised because I thought, since we are a well developed nation that our countries' education was higher compared to other countries.
3. As an American student, why do you think our scores are lagging internationally?
As an American student I think that maybe in other countries they teach differently in a way that the information stays in the students' brain. I also think that maybe the American students don't but enough effort into the work.. They might as well not care about the work. Another thing I think is that maybe the other countries are just naturally good at preforming.

5. What can be done to help American students improve their performance in class? (This should be one full paragraph)
Something that can be done to help American students improve their performance in class is maybe by asking them which way is the easiest way for them learning. Some students work better in groups and others work better alone, some work better with hearing the work and others work better with visual or writing. Teachers can talk to students who have difficulties and try finding a solution that can work out for the student, the teacher, and the parent too. Teachers can set up a system were each student must spend an hour of reading each night to improve their reading skills. There is a lot that can be done to help improve these students. They just need more time and focusing when they are doing their work.. It may help by studying in a quiet and a clean area. The students and teachers need to spend time together after school or any time they are available to find out where exactly the student is struggling and what can be done to improve that area of struggle.
